Whittaker (19-4) headsi to his first title defence off an eight fight win streak, including a unanimous decision win over Yoel Romero at UFC 213 where he seized the interim middleweight title. The 26-year-old has finished two of his last three opponents. Rockhold (16-3) is coming from a stoppage victory over David Branch at UFC Fight Night 116. The former UFC and Strikeforce winner has won half of his last seven fights. .
Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou set for UFC 220
MMAJunkie broke the news that heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will face Francis Ngannou at UFC 220 on Jan. 20 at TD Garden at Boston.
Miocic (17-2) is currently riding a five-fight win series such as a first-round TKO victory over Junior Dos Santos in UFC 211 back May. The 35-year-old has won eight of the last nine fights. Ngannou (11-1) has stayed undefeated in the UFC and defeated Alistair Overeem final weekend at UFC 218 by first-round knockout. The 31-year-old has not lost a fight.
